For the last few months my blog has essentially been a longer version of my newsletter. This week I don't have a lot of time to write a blog post, so I thought I'd show you what you're missing if you're not on my email list! This is last week's newsletter with the addition of my painting of Dave Grohl. Back to normal blogging next week.

It's been a while since I've painted any famous rock stars and I've been thinking about it a lot. It's kind of crazy when you think about it, as musicians are some of my biggest sellers.

So I was recently excited when someone commissioned a painting of Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam. That same person was planning to get me to do a painting of the late-great Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip. He is an absolute legend here in Canada and his death a few years ago was-well- tragic. He was much too young.

Anyway the person who was planning to commission Gord Downie decided to do a deep dive on my Instagram account and he found my painting of Dave Grohl. So he decided that he would still get me to paint Eddie Vedder, but that he would buy Dave Grohl instead of Gord Downie.

Works for me, of course! The thing is, I decided to go ahead and paint Gord Downie. So it was great that this customer brought him up. For some reason I hadn't really even thought of painting him, though I've been a fan for years. And let's face it, he's such a legend in this county, that there is a very good chance he will sell to someone in this fair land. So thank you to that person for his purchases and his inspiration!
