A Wildman Odyssey
A Wildman Odyssey is a 7 minute and 4 second cut-out animation which utilizes illustrations created with watercolour, pencil and charcoal. It is the story of a young man whose mind is destroyed by televised portrayals of masculinity. As he is numbed by television, his incorporeal “Inner Wildman” separates from his corporeal body and goes on a journey to discover who the young man really is. The results are all at once ridiculous, comic, tragic – and exceptionally geeky. A Wildman Odyssey was Created between January and April of 2010. It is the story of a clueless everyman, known simply as The Whatsisface who is confronted with questions of his ultimate significance as a male. While radical feminists attempt to sacrifice him, he is offered a chance to live as a “real man,” with terrifyingly amusing results. (not) Darwin's Dogs
My series of drawings entitled (not) Darwin's Dogs depict a mock dog show, otherwise known as a confirmation show. It features dogs that have clearly been modified by human intervention. The "frankendog" quality of the animals reflects the relationship between dogs and their owners and ultimately how they help to shape identity. There were 15 drawings in total in this series. They were created using charcoal and black pencil crayon on paper. Please click the link to view a few samples.
